Edward V. Vrona, Jr., C.P.A., Managing Partner
Edward established the Certified Public Accounting and Tax Consulting firm, Edward Vrona, C.P.A. in 2001. His experience includes over 35 years of management, consulting and technical responsibilities with privately held businesses. He has extensive experience in complex tax transactions for privately held businesses and their owners. He provides hands on experience to his clients by interacting with customers, vendors, attorneys, bankers, insurance brokers, stockbrokers and other professional advisors, and has experience in a wide range of industries concentrating his practice on commercial real estate, franchises, graphic arts and manufacturing.
Edward holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University in New York, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Conference of CPA Practitioners and the National Society of Accountants. Edward is also a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).
Philip S. Van Schuyler, C.P.A., Partner
Phil has been in public accounting for over 30 years. Before becoming one of the founding members of Vrona & Van Schuyler CPAs, PLLC in 2007, he was a partner at Heller, Kaufman & Fox CPA, PC in New York City for 5 years. He has experience in the industries of wholesale food distribution, commercial and residential real estate, restaurants, and professional services companies, among others. Phil also has heavy experience in multi-state taxation issues.
Phil holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Long Island University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. Phil is also a Licensed Life Insurance Agent.
Mark S. Berotti, C.P.A., Partner
Mark joined the firm in 2021 and was previously a partner in his own firm for over 40 years. He has experience in all types of industries and specializes in real estate, construction, medical services, restaurants and not for profit.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Audit committee of the Island Park School District.
Allen I. Guskin, C.P.A., Partner
Before joining the firm, Allen had been a partner in his own firm for over 15 years. He has worked in Public Accounting for over 37 years. Allen has experience in various industries including Law Firms, Medical Practices, Real Estate Entities, Restaurants, Retail businesses and Not for Profit organizations.
Allen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Jaqueline Fackler, C.P.A., Tax Manager
Jacqueline is a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of public accounting experience. Her most recent experience includes preparing tax projections, and tax filings for various closely held businesses. She has an extensive background in tax compliance for multi-state business entities across several industries. Her experience includes tax compliance for individuals as well.
Jacqueline has a Master of Business Administration – Taxation and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Kathryn Grosso, C.P.A.
Kate has been a practicing accountant for over 35 years in both the public and private sectors. She has experience in both taxation and auditing in the areas of real estate, banking, manufacturing, sales, and service industries. She was the vice president in charge of SEC reporting for Merrill Lynch Hubbard and has also been the controller for companies in the automotive and health care equipment industries.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Fairfield University.
Brian Hancock, CPA
Brian has been with the firm since 2018. His prior experience includes health care audits and hospital cost reporting. He currently works on individual tax preparation and tax preparation for businesses. He also assists with daily accounting for multiple clients.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Drexel University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Brenda Hall, Staff Accountant
Brenda has been with the firm since 2019. Before joining Vrona & Van Schuyler CPAs, PLLC she worked for a not for profit organization for 6 years as an accounting clerk, handling day to day accounting activities, payroll and assisted with the required annual audits. She has experience with individual and business income tax preparation and has worked in the quick service restaurant and banking industries. She assists with daily accounting, tax preparation and tax compliance for our clients.
Brenda holds a Masters of Accounting and Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Martha Essel, Staff Accountant
Martha joined Vrona & Van Schuyler CPAs in January 2021 and has practiced public accounting for over 6 years. Before joining the firm, Martha worked at Berotti, Robins, and Guskin LLP and other CPA companies in New York State. Prior to it, she spent 10 years as a senior tax advisor at H&R Block. Martha offers accounting, taxation, payroll services for small and mid-size clients across many states and various industries, including medical, construction, and real estate.
Martha holds a Master degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Sinu in Monteria, Colombia.
